I had a chat with the farmer this morning and asked if he could remember when these four fields were last ploughed. He's in his late 60s and they haven't been ploughed in his lifetime and they were his father's fields before him and he reckons they probably weren't ploughed in his father's lifetime either. So the soil in these fields proably hasn't been disturbed for at least 100 years and maybe more which may explian why they're so quiet. I'll have a quick look in the other three fields but with no great expectations that they'll be any different.Still, get one of those deepseeking SiteWrecker machines and you'd soon be hoiking the stuff out.

Well, what a surprise, the thread about detectorists detecting on old pasture has been moved/deleted...
