What "interest" does an Auction House have in Selling Statue taken from Koh Ker group?

"Sotheby's has filed a claim of interest in the defendant property because it has a property interest in the statue. If it did not, it would have no standing to go forward to defend that interest".

So then the statue could be reunited with its fellows back in Cambodia? In whose interest is splitting the group?
