Lydian stelae were returned by a US dealer to Turkey

Ten Lydian stelae were returned by a US dealer to Turkey after the intervention of the FBI in Washington. They were part of a batch of 16 stolen in 2006. They will be exhibited at the Museum of Manisa near the sites where they were believed to have been looted. Reports, satisfyingly, are naming the dealer from whom the objects were taken (one flagged up in previous posts on this blog). Let us hope this is a trend that will continue, though no mention is made of any charges over these items.
