How to Read a Book

How to read a book (WSJ)

The Wall Street Journal has advice useful for those who encounter difficulty in coping with white pages with black marks on them as a way to engage with the past, as an alternative to necessarily holding a decontextualised "piece of the past in yer hand" (Jeanne Whalen, 'Read Slowly to Benefit Your Brain and Cut Stress', Sept. 16, 2014)
reading habits have declined in recent years. In a survey this year, about 76% of Americans 18 and older said they read at least one book in the past year, down from 79% in 2011, according to the Pew Research Center.
Maybe in the UK the PAS could improve its educational outreach by having a reading list which includes more than finds guides for hoikers and collectors.
