Unapologetic About "Trolls", Six Months on

.
Today it is exactly six months since at a public seminar a representative of the British Museum referred to archaeologists who raised questions about the issues surrounding the collecting of antiquities as "trolls". Since then, no apology or justification has emerged from the portals of Bloomsbury though I am assured they were a little embarrassed when somebody was tweeting about this a few weeks back at another meeting where the topic came up. Too embarrassed to apologise? Too embarassed to stand by what they were saying? For the British Museum, "partnering" artefact hunters through their Portable Antiquities Scheme, there are no issues whatsoever that need discussing about the manner in which in Britain the archaeological heritage is treated? Incredible.
