I do hope this is an apocryphal story, with no basis. There are thousands of artefacts missing from stores, most of them with no list in the public domain, sites have been looted, smugglers are operating, sites are being encroached upon. What is the Ministry doing about it?
Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim affirmed that the ministry started the coordination with UNESCO to issue international legislation that will Criminalize copying the Egyptian Antiquities. They are trying to stop people selling replicas. Is UNESCO really helping them with this?
