Metal Detecting Under the Microscope: James Digs Permanent Pasture

.
Over on a metal detecting forum near you, it seems they've not read the Code of Practice for RESPONSIBLE Metal Detecting in England and Wales with any understanding. Out in the outback of Cambridgeshire (isn't that where Dr Bland lives?) one jamesi (whose motto seems to be: "if in doute, dig it out") writes candidly on pasture detecting (Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:28 pm):
hi all what is peoples views on detecting on pasture which has not been farmed. i have had a go with my cibola but i have found iron an modern stuff like ring pulls around 6 inch deep anything old is goin to be much deeper.whats the best detector for this type of detecting????
Let us see who is the first to answer "None, cus UR going' t' trash any arkylology thats their". Where is the PAS' "outreach" in cases like this?

UPDATE 5.08.12:
the link now goes (at this end at least) to : "This topic does not exist" . It now seems the author was a "James May" from the Chipping Norton region.
