Mon Sep 23, 2013 5:42 pm As reported on Facebook today:
I am very sorry to report that there has been serious damage at the Men an Tol site by metal detectorists, they have cut a series of 4" square holes around the site plus a couple of bigger ones. We have repaired as best we could, whilst carrying out our regular maintenance. If anyone sees people with metal detectors around our site please report them.
For anyone to whom the name means very little, The Mên-an-Tol (also Men an Toll) is a small formation of standing stones near the Madron–Morvah road in Cornwall, United Kingdom, notable for the holed stone.
