To what Nigel writes in the post immediately above, I would like to add that it is clear that metal detectorists, dense most of them at the best of times, who obviously have not the foggiest idea about what the word "troll" means. It's something they heard their partner the PAS use and they parrot it uncomprehendingly. Perhaps they should find out what words mean before trying to use them, otherwise they are just going to end up looking even sillier than they already do from posts like that which Nigel quotes. Readers might remember detectorist Alan Hassal making a similarly inane accusation a few years back.
TAKE A GOOD LOOK at this behaviour, for these are precisely the sort of people the PAS wants to grab more and more millions of public quid to make into the "partners" of the British Museum, archaeological heritage professionals and to whom they want us all to entrust the exploitation of the archaeological record. Take a good look and decide what you think about that as a "policy".
